Can Happy Gas Help Me at the Dentist?

This is a subtitle for your new post

Nitrous Oxide (N2O gas) or Happy Gas is a type of sedation method that helps patients who are very anxious, and uncomfortable.

For procedures like Fillings , Root Canal and even Extraction of a tooth we routinely numb up the area so patients can’t feel any pain or sensitivity while we work on the tooth, however to numb the tooth area we do have to give an injection. An injection for some patients can be very overwhelming and scary. In these instances, Happy gas is a great intervention to help these patient stay calm, and ease into scary procedures like these.

Happy gas is a combination of Nitrogen gas and Oxygen gas, which come in a cylinder. It is administered via a gas mask that we put over the patients nose and mouth. Patients are advised to take in long, slow breaths in and out to give them the maximum result as quickly as possible.

The great thing about Happy gas is that it doesn’t stay in your body for too long, therefore when the procedure is close to finishing we turn the Nitrogen gas off and put the patient on pure Oxygen for about 5 minutes which helps flush out any Nitrous oxide in the body very quickly. Just to be on the safe side however we do advise patients to have someone drive them home or wait at least 30 minutes before driving.

We here at Tooth Fairy & Co. provide Happy gas if necessary, for any procedures we do. So, if you feel very scared and have been putting off coming to the dentist or even getting a dental procedure done, do consider the Happy gas option as it may be right for you.  Call us on 07 3488 0899 to enquire about our Happy gas option.
